Mountain murals: whistler is calling

This is a mural project that I created for my short term vacation rental in Whistler. Named Whistler Chalet Getaway, it is one of the offerings under the collective named Whistler is Calling. I wanted to add some personalization to my cottage as well as a sense of serenity. With this came to life the blue mural in the master bedroom. Afterwards, I wanted to create an area that could be used as a photo wall in the main gathering space. I went for something more simplistic here, a cold white on warm white mountain outline under our branding.

blue mountain mural

This blue mountain mural was crafted with many hours of concept and brainstorming. There were limitations in the space and the room design (ie: furniture, windows, etc). I wanted to keep the openess of the room and add a sense of serenity and escape. After 5-10 concepts, I knew which one I was going to move forward with.

The mural was all hand painted with acrylic paint.

Simplistic white outlines

This mural came from a more simplistic idea. I wanted to have a photo wall in our main living space, but didn’t want it to be over bearing. After hours of sketching and brainstorming, this idea was born. And then to further the concept, many itirations of colours for the outlines were done. I settled for a cold white, semi gloss.
